MR. C STEVEN BAILEY: Eye floaters are very common. If you have a sudden appearance of floaters, you must seek advice immediately because it could mean you have a retinal tear and that could lead to retinal detachment. Other floaters are just annoying and they can sometimes be treated, either by laser or if they’re not suitable for laser, they may be treatable by other means.
